Halloween Is Near...
In the past few years, we have had a costume contest. To change it up a little, we decided to do something a little different this year. We are going to have a PUMPKIN CONTEST! This will be team work with your co-workers and the winning office will receive a FREE LUNCH of your choice outside of the office. All pumpkins need to be in the offices by the 19th of October so that we will have time to come around and see them. This is optional but would be a great team building exercise. Please let us know if you are interested by leaving a comment.

Western Union Bulletin Board
Make sure you are reading these messages when you turn on your Western Union computer. They will appear on your home screen below the login. I was in the Okolona office today when I noticed it. I called two other offices and theirs were different. I have posted the one from Okolona below:
Western Union is excited to announce HAPPY WEDNESDAY!!! Every Wednesday between August 26 and October 14, 2009. Consumers can get 50% off their money transfer and quick collect transfer fees!!! Consumer must say or show the promo code "HAPPY".
This is a great way to promote GOOD customer service. If you have a customer come in on Wednesday make sure you offer this to them, because you are saving them almost $6.50.

Keep Your Goal In Sight
On a foggy morning in July 1952, Florence Chadwick waded into the chilly waters off of Catalina Island. Her goal? To swim the channel to the California coast. The water was numbing cold that day. The fog was so thick she could barely see the boats that were accompanying her. Several times, a rifle was fired to scare away sharks that approached her.
She swam more than fifteen hours before she asked to be taken out of the water. Her trainer tried to encourage her to swim on since they were so close to land. Florence was not a stranger to long-distance swimming. She was the first woman to swim the English Channel in both directions. But that day, she was discouraged. When she looked ahead all she saw was fog. Florence gave up only one-half mile from her goal!
Later, she said, "I'm not excusing myself, but if I could have seen the land, I might have made it." It wasn't the cold water, exhaustion, or fear that caused Florence to fail that day. It was the fog. Two months later Florence Chadwick swam the Catalina channel and set a new speed record.
Keep you goals in sight today and press on. You may be much closer to fulfilling them than you realize!
Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend,
Shanda

Beware of Cat...
Macon Motors has a guard cat not a dog. The cats name seems to be "Toyota".
I have not asked but I'm pretty sure that someone is feeding Toyota.

Pull Those Weeds!
I am your constant companion.
I am your greatest asset or heaviest burden.
I will push you up to success or down to disappointment.
I am at your command.
Half the things you do might just as well be turned over to me,
For I can do them quickly, correctly, and profitably.
I am easily managed, just be firm with me.
Those who are great, I have made great.
Those who are failures, I have made failures.
I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a machine
and the intelligence of a person.
You can run me for profit, or you can run me for ruin.
Show me how you want it done.
Educate me. Train me. Lead me. Reward me.
And I will then...do it automatically.
I am your servant.
Who am I?
I am a habit.
The author of the above is unknown, but the words are right on target. If you make good habits, they in turn will make you. But like the weeds in the garden, bad habits can take over your life. Make a decision today to pull those weeds.

5th thru 8th place are VERY close to each other.
Some of the numbers are VERY close. I would suggest to start sending out monthly flyers again. You can print and fold them at your own office. It would be good if you have 1000 address to divide them up into 4 groups so that you can do them through out the month. If you need a flyers please email Laken and she will be glad to help you. Check back to see where you rank next week!!!!

Who Will Improve Your Lot?
Years ago, in Monterey, California, a crisis arose. Monterey had become a paradise for pelicans. After cleaning their fish, the local fishermen would throw the pelicans the entrails. The birds soon became fat and lazy.
Eventually, a new market was found that could use the entrails commercially. The pelicans no longer had a free meal. Yet, the pelicans made no effort to fish for themselves. They just waited, and waited, for the handouts that didn't come. Many starved to death. They seemed to have forgotten how to fish for themselves.
The opposite approach was taken by an elderly woman waiting for a bus. She was crippled with rheumatism and loaded down with packages. As the bus door opened, a man offered her a helping hand. The woman smiled and shook her head. "I'd best manage alone," she said. "If I get help today, I'll want it tomorrow."
George Bernard Shaw once noted, "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them."
None will improve your lot, if you yourselves do not.
Shanda
