Dieting Quotes

Life expectancy would grow by leaps and bounds if green vegetables smelled as good as bacon. Doug Larson What you eat standing up doesn't count. Beth Barnes I drive way too fast to worry about cholesterol. Unknown The cardiologist's diet: If it tastes good, spit it out. Unknown Avoid fruits and nuts: after all, you are what you eat. Garfield Never eat more than you can lift. Miss Piggy A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit. Unknown When I buy cookies, I just eat four and throw the rest away. But first I spray them with Raid so I won't dig them out of the garbage later. Be careful, though, because that Raid really doesn't taste that bad. Janette Barber Dieting is not a piece of cake. Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread and pumpkin pie. Garfield Happy Monday, Shanda

Quotes - on Marriage

Reading these quotes I was reminded of Luke's blog in August regarding the "Good Wife Guide" However, I think you will appreciate these. A successful man is one who can earn more money than his wife can possibly spend. A successful woman is one who can find that man. Unknown There's a way of transferring funds that is even faster than electronic banking. It's called marriage. Donald McGannon If it weren't for marriage, men and women would have to fight with total strangers. Cass Daley Try praising your wife, even if it does frighten her at first. Billy Sunday No man was ever shot by his wife while doing the dishes. Unknown I think men who have a peirced ear are better prepared for marriage. They've experienced pain and bought jewelry. Rita Rudner Don't marry for money. You can borrow it cheaper. Scottish Proverb Have a great day, Shanda

She's driving!!

Angie's daughter, Amber, just got her permit. She is asking every time they get in the car if she can drive. I will say that Angie is using this as leverage to make sure that Amber keeps her grades up. Congrats to Amber!! This is one exciting event into her teenage life.

Halloween Is Near...

In the past few years, we have had a costume contest. To change it up a little, we decided to do something a little different this year. We are going to have a PUMPKIN CONTEST! This will be team work with your co-workers and the winning office will receive a FREE LUNCH of your choice outside of the office. All pumpkins need to be in the offices by the 19th of October so that we will have time to come around and see them. This is optional but would be a great team building exercise. Please let us know if you are interested by leaving a comment.

Keep Your Goal In Sight

On a foggy morning in July 1952, Florence Chadwick waded into the chilly waters off of Catalina Island. Her goal? To swim the channel to the California coast. The water was numbing cold that day. The fog was so thick she could barely see the boats that were accompanying her. Several times, a rifle was fired to scare away sharks that approached her. She swam more than fifteen hours before she asked to be taken out of the water. Her trainer tried to encourage her to swim on since they were so close to land. Florence was not a stranger to long-distance swimming. She was the first woman to swim the English Channel in both directions. But that day, she was discouraged. When she looked ahead all she saw was fog. Florence gave up only one-half mile from her goal! Later, she said, "I'm not excusing myself, but if I could have seen the land, I might have made it." It wasn't the cold water, exhaustion, or fear that caused Florence to fail that day. It was the fog. Two months later Florence Chadwick swam the Catalina channel and set a new speed record. Keep you goals in sight today and press on. You may be much closer to fulfilling them than you realize! Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend, Shanda

Employee Pictures

This is Bethany Elrod's little angel, Annabelle. She is 8 months old and is at the age where curiosity is beginning to take over. She loves to learn and see new things.
Michelle Storey's son, John Avery, is now 16 months. It's hard to believe that he has gotten this big so soon. He looks like a little man is this picture. He has a laid back personality and his laugh would make anyone smile.
This beautiful little girl is the daughter of our new assistant manager, Tracy Floyd, in Saltillo. Bell is 4 years old and this is her first real hook. I must say that I think she got a great catch for her first fish. Holding Bell is Tracy's husband, Jimmy.

Pull Those Weeds!

I am your constant companion. I am your greatest asset or heaviest burden. I will push you up to success or down to disappointment. I am at your command. Half the things you do might just as well be turned over to me, For I can do them quickly, correctly, and profitably. I am easily managed, just be firm with me. Those who are great, I have made great. Those who are failures, I have made failures. I am not a machine, though I work with the precision of a machine and the intelligence of a person. You can run me for profit, or you can run me for ruin. Show me how you want it done. Educate me. Train me. Lead me. Reward me. And I will then...do it automatically. I am your servant. Who am I? I am a habit. The author of the above is unknown, but the words are right on target. If you make good habits, they in turn will make you. But like the weeds in the garden, bad habits can take over your life. Make a decision today to pull those weeds. Shanda

Who Will Improve Your Lot?

Years ago, in Monterey, California, a crisis arose. Monterey had become a paradise for pelicans. After cleaning their fish, the local fishermen would throw the pelicans the entrails. The birds soon became fat and lazy. Eventually, a new market was found that could use the entrails commercially. The pelicans no longer had a free meal. Yet, the pelicans made no effort to fish for themselves. They just waited, and waited, for the handouts that didn't come. Many starved to death. They seemed to have forgotten how to fish for themselves. The opposite approach was taken by an elderly woman waiting for a bus. She was crippled with rheumatism and loaded down with packages. As the bus door opened, a man offered her a helping hand. The woman smiled and shook her head. "I'd best manage alone," she said. "If I get help today, I'll want it tomorrow." George Bernard Shaw once noted, "People are always blaming their circumstances for what they are. I don't believe in circumstances. The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and if they can't find them, make them." None will improve your lot, if you yourselves do not. Shanda
