Do you park in front of your front door?

Most of you have been in meetings where we talk about Customer Service and ask for different suggestions. Once thing that has always been mentioned is not to park in front of you door at work, because it is rude and that space needs to be left for your customers. With that being said, I would like to share a true experience that our New Albany office went through with our neighbors. For a few months, an employee at a staffing agency that is next door to us decided it was too far for him to walk to park on the opposite side of the parking lot facing the road, so he parked in front of our store. Chelsea went several times and spoke with this gentleman and asked him politely to please move his vehicle. At first he was nice about it and might would move his vehicle, but then one day he decided to let us know what he thought of us. Needless to say it wasn't pleasant. We decided to talk to the landlord and asked if he would make one of the handy-cap parking spaces in front of the staffing agency a normal parking space so we could avoid further problems with this gentleman and so that our customers would stop thinking it was Chelsea parking there. Chelsea repeatedly explained to customers that was not her car and would appologize for the space not being available for them. The landlord did change the space and explained that to our neighbors that they needed to start parking in front of their door. Obviously they did start parking there, but guess what! Their business started to slow down and eventually their doors closed for good. It only took a couple of months for that to happen when he started parking in front of his doors. So as you can see if you are rude and short with your customers & neighboring stores AND if you park in front of your office, the consequences are dramatic. Have a great day! Janna

Yeah that guy was extremely rude and even told me one time that if we didn't like where he parked that maybe we should think about relocating elsewhere! WHAT A JERK!

I know what y'all are going through. People park in our front door to go to the grocery store next door. You never know if they are coming here or there.

I wonder if that guy thought about all the bad things that happened to him just because he wanted to be a jerk. Those 10 extra steps every day could have saved him a lot in the long run.

Wanted you to relocate & he ended up having to relocate at a different place of employment...So weird how things work out! I find myself biting my tounge in public when an employee displays bad customer service...Thanks to Luke for all of our training, meetings, and speeches on customer service. We may get tired of hearing it over and over again sometimes but it sticks with us and it definitely pays off in the end! Hope you all have a GREAT Thursday!!

I know how annoying that is, I have a laundrymat next door so people park right in front of my door to go next door to wash clothes so they are there for hours........

I know exactly how it is... I have an insurance on one side and a staffing agency on the other. Needless to say sometimes in the morning my neighbor (Jason at the insurance company) will see me pulling in and he will move his truck to the back of the building so I can have a spot out in front.(Across the parking lot and NOT in the front door)
