Fliers

If you are stamping your fliers, letters or other mail with an address service requested stamp the post office will charge you $0.50 when they inform you of a correct address. This service is worth the $0.50 we pay for it, but please make sure that you update the customers address in the computer so we aren't paying for it several times before it is corrected. If any mail returns with an incorrect address it needs to be removed from the computer so we don't continue to waste postage sending mail to a wrong address. Have a great weekend, Shanda

Return Check Collections

Please make sure that you are verifying funds on return checks daily, because income tax checks are arriving. A few offices have already had some customers come in and pay out their loans. The next few months is the perfect time to collect a great amount of money. Please make sure that you are taking advantage of this opportunity. Make sure to call return check customers daily to set-up payment arrangements and if they miss their set-up day make sure you call that customer the very next morning to have them come in and pay. If you have any ideas to help other offices collect on return checks, please post them on our comments. Janna

Time Management

A few quotes from "The Treasury of Quotes" by Jim Rohn Time is our most valuable asset, yet we tend to waste it, kill it, and spend it rather than invest it. We can, no more afford to spend major time on minor things than we can to spend minor time on major things. The greatest definition for concentration I ever heard is, "Wherever you are, be there!" You don't get paid for the hour. You get paid for the value you bring to an hour. Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you can't get more time. Learn how to be happy with what you have while you pursue all that you want. Have a great weekend, Shanda

Renewal Letters

It is so important that every office sends out renewal letters once a week. I know that it is income tax time and people will begin to pay their loans out, but some customers will have to wait a little while to receive their money. Therefore, we can be their answer for some extra cash. Every office should have a day set to send out friendly reminders and past due letters, so on that day take the extra time and mail out renewal letters as well. Janna

Do you park in front of your front door?

Most of you have been in meetings where we talk about Customer Service and ask for different suggestions. Once thing that has always been mentioned is not to park in front of you door at work, because it is rude and that space needs to be left for your customers. With that being said, I would like to share a true experience that our New Albany office went through with our neighbors. For a few months, an employee at a staffing agency that is next door to us decided it was too far for him to walk to park on the opposite side of the parking lot facing the road, so he parked in front of our store. Chelsea went several times and spoke with this gentleman and asked him politely to please move his vehicle. At first he was nice about it and might would move his vehicle, but then one day he decided to let us know what he thought of us. Needless to say it wasn't pleasant. We decided to talk to the landlord and asked if he would make one of the handy-cap parking spaces in front of the staffing agency a normal parking space so we could avoid further problems with this gentleman and so that our customers would stop thinking it was Chelsea parking there. Chelsea repeatedly explained to customers that was not her car and would appologize for the space not being available for them. The landlord did change the space and explained that to our neighbors that they needed to start parking in front of their door. Obviously they did start parking there, but guess what! Their business started to slow down and eventually their doors closed for good. It only took a couple of months for that to happen when he started parking in front of his doors. So as you can see if you are rude and short with your customers & neighboring stores AND if you park in front of your office, the consequences are dramatic. Have a great day! Janna

Lazy Days

I'm not going to mention names (as you can see) but this is unacceptable! This paper was delivered Tuesday, Dec. 30th around 5:20 in the afternoon. We worked Wednesday and Friday however, the paper did not move until Monday after lunch when the Area Manager told them it needed to me moved. I know from experience that it is easy to get distracted and begin another project. Luke harped on me when I worked in the Aberdeen office to make sure that I always put my vacuum cleaner away when finished. (Several times.)
It is very important to keep your lobby clean because this is where the first impression begins. Other things that we have noticed are vacuum cleaners left out and trash in the floor of the lobby.
Please make sure that you take time each morning before opening your office to make sure that your lobby is clean.

Today I Begin A New Life

Yesterday I was reading the book "The Greatest Salesman in the World" by Og Mandino. He has so many great insights that will help us succeed. Over the next few weeks I am going to give you some of the wisdom from his book, I hope you will heed them and they can be a new beginnings in your life. We can just read them and agreed and they won't change a thing, but we need to practice them if we want to succeed. Today I begin a new life. I will greet this day with love in my heart. For this is the greatest secret of success in all ventures. Muscle can split a shield and even destroy life but only the unseen power of love can open the hearts of men and until I master this art I will remain no more than a peddler in the market place. I will make love my greatest weapon and none on whom I call can defend against its force. My reasoning they may counter; my speech they may distrust; my apparel they may disapprove; my face they may reject; and even my bargains may cause them suspicion; yet my love will melt all hearts liken to the sun whose rays soften the coldest clay I will greet each day with love in my heart. And how will I do this? Henceforth will I look on all things with love. I will love the sun for it warms my bones; yet I will love the rain for it cleanses my spirit. I will love the light for it shows me the way; yet I will love the darkness for it shows me the stars. I will welcome happiness for it enlarges my heart; yet I will endure sadness for it opens my soul. I will acknowledge rewards for they are my due; yet I will welcome obstacles for they are my challenge. I hope this will challenge you to look at each situation you may face this week through the eyes of love. Remember that will not be your first reaction to some situations, but you will have to choose to love. This does not mean to roll over and let others take advantage of you, but to handle every situation with the right attitude in love. Have a happy new year!
